The 4th Annual Putting Party Fundraiser for Morton Golf Foundation

SpecOlyPuttathan 078Each fall Morton Golf Foundation plans “The Putting Party” which is a fundraising evening to raise charity dollars for the Morton Golf Foundation. On Wednesday, September 30, Mike Woods created 18 putting holes on the putting green with string, props and funny figurines. We call it the Mike Woods Signature Course! Each putting hole is sold to a corporation for a total of 18 TEAMS.

The event was kicked off with a putting clinic given by PGA TOUR Professional Kevin Sutherland who not only plays on the Champions TOUR but is also a Morton Golf Foundation Board Member.

He gave everyone there putting tips to help their “TEAM” on their way for the 18 putting holes ahead.

At the end of the 18 putting holes the WINNERS were determined:

  • 1st Place went to: “Beauty & the Beasts” which was made up of members of the Executive Committee of The First Tee of Greater Sacramento
  • 2nd Place went to: “Bing Bombers” which were the 2014 putting winners from last year
  • 3rd Place went to: “River City Bank Putt-hers” that consisted of all women golfers

Amber Holwell from River City Bank’s TEAM remarked, “The Putt-hers had a great time and cannot wait for next year’s event.”

When the evening was winding down and people were leaving, Jane Siebers stopped the 1st Place WINNING TEAM “Beauty & the Beasts” as they were walking out with the perpetual trophy. She asked them to please leave it here and she would have a plaque made with their names on it to be displayed for the entire year in the MacKenzie Sports Bar and Grille at Haggin Oaks. That all chimed in that they had a Board meeting in the morning and it was very important that the trophy be displayed at their meeting. The trophy is now back on Jane’s desk and ready to have the 2015 WINNERS plaque made so the display trophy can be seen and enjoyed by all.

Please join us next fall for “The Putting Party”. This event is made for the “fun” and not the score.
