Morton Golf Foundation President Tom Morton and Team Win Vallara Capital Cup

A HUGE congratulations to our Morton Golf Foundation President Tom Morton for raising $46,464 for the Morton Golf Foundation.

Over the past three days, Tom and his team, the Sactown Scramblers, played in the Villara Capital Cup that has become Sacramento’s largest fundraising event.

Twenty-eight Sacramento area community leaders competed in a 3-day Ryder Cup format tournament. His team, the Sactown Scramblers, came in clutch yesterday and won the tournament.

By winning the tournament Tom’ss 14-man team earned an additional $100k to the charities of their choice. Tom had the most amount of single donations- and the 28 players raised over $1.8 million dollars for charity!

Morton Golf Foundation Junior Grant Winner is the youngest player in the Men’s CA State Fair Championship

2020 96th Annual California State Fair Men’s Championship at Alister MacKenzie Golf Course at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex, September 5 -7

Jaden Dumdumaya, one of Morton Golf Foundation Junior Golf Development Grant Winners was the youngest player at the age of 14 playing in the Men’s State Fair Championship over Labor Day weekend. He had his older brother Vohn as his caddie to keep his spirits high & any nerves away.

The first day of this 3 day tournament Jaden shot even par, 72 to prove he deserved his spot in this event with every contestant older than him. He was cheered on by his coach, his dad Stan Dumdumaya.

The excitement really kicked in on the 2nd day with his mom, dad, grandma & grandpa cheering him on he shot 4 under for a 68. He made the cut!

The 3rd day Jaden dressed in red, white and blue in honor of Labor Day as he shot 1 over to finish his 3 day round with a 213.

Jaden will sleep well tonight dreaming of more competitive golf tournaments ahead.

Look for Jaden Dumdumaya’s name on more leaderboards to come.

Thank You from an MGF Junior Golf Grant Winner

Nikki Chindavong has been receiving a junior golf development grant for the past four years and it has been great to see her grow in both her personality and in her golf game.

A few months ago, the Morton Golf Foundation connected Nikki with Scott Smith to play in the Jr/Sr Funvitational on July 31, 2020, at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. Scott purchased matching shirts for their team (which is a tournament tradition) and the two of them spent a fun day on the golf course for this event sponsored by The First Tee of Greater Sacramento. This duo shot a score of 11 under gross, 16 under net. That day Scott and Nikki bonded through golf and we are sure there will be another match set up for the two of these golfers to play together again soon.

Nikki recently sent a thank you letter to the Morton Golf Foundation and we wanted to share it with everyone here. We were touched by the great art and her kind words:

“Dear Morton Golf Foundation,

Thank you for everything you do for junior golf. Your endless support and positivity has motivated me through these tough times! The year of 2020 has brought lots of surprises and changes to our lives, however, the Morton Golf Foundation has still tried to make this the best year ever!! I am so excited for the future and to see things go back to “normal”. Thank you for your continuous support 🙂

Best regards,

Nikki Chindavong”

A Request for Your Support

Support Tom Morton, President of the Morton Golf Foundation, as he fundraises for the Morton Golf Foundation during the Villara/DCA Capital Cup this September 25, 26 and 27, 2020.

Hello Morton Golf Foundation Supporter!

Tom Morton

As you may know, I am President of the Morton Golf Foundation and like so many charities we have had to cancel our most important fundraising activities providing key funding for us to enhance and improve the Sacramento community through the wonderful game of golf.

Villara/DCA Capital Cup

Now, more than ever, local non-profits are struggling not only to serve our communities but to just maintain operations. Luckily, I have been given an incredible opportunity to help make up some of this loss by competing in the Villara/DCA Capital Cup, a golf tournament among fellow Sacramento business leaders to raise funds for local charities and non-profits. I am playing for and supporting the Morton Golf Foundation to further our mission of funding programs offering a healthy outdoor recreational environment that stresses the building of lasting personal relationships while seamlessly instilling life’s core values for the youth, disabled, and under-served communities of Sacramento. And if my team wins, the Morton Golf Foundation will receive a share of the $100,000 grand prize!

Please consider making a contribution (of any comfortable amount) through my fundraising page:

https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/tom-morton-morton-golf-foundation/tommorton3

All donations go directly to the Morton Golf Foundation, as well as help me win the grand prize on the foundation’s behalf—with every $5,000 I raise in advance, I earn a “mulligan,” which can only help me that much more toward winning a share of the $100,000 grand prize!

Thank you as always for your past support and continued generosity.

All the best,
Tom

29th Annual Jr/Sr Funvitational Hits it Right Down the Middle

With all the cancellations happening with COVID-19 it was a pleasure that the fun could continue at the 29th Annual Jr/Sr Funvitational at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, CA on July 31, 2020.

Jr/Sr Funvitational

It was straight tee times instead of a shotgun start and the lunch & awards could not be held following golf due to social distancing requirements.

All day on the golf course you could hear shouts across the fairway as friends were cheering on their fellow golfers. The format was a 2-person scramble. What a great way to work as a team for all 18 holes.

There were smiles all around as the tournament ended and it was bumping elbows to thank your foursome for a great round.

The day was enjoyed by approximately 100 golfers and several were Morton Golf Foundation Board Members and friends.

Our hats are off to The a First Tee of Greater Sacramento TEAM for putting on another great event. Their continued hard work was well worth it!

Please join us next year at this event as we ALL support junior golf!

The Morton Golf Foundation Looks Forward to Seeing Everyone Soon

It was a perfect afternoon to be out on the golf course on Thursday, April 16, 2020, in Sacramento, CA, sharing a game we all enjoy with special friends.

When we finished our golf round there was not any shaking of hands or high fives. We ended with friendly smiles and wishes on when to schedule our next round.

We all can’t wait to see each other, play more golf, and just talk about do you remember when?

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
