2026 applications are now closed. Should you wish to apply for the MGF Junior Golf Development Grant for 2027, the application period will be open from July 1, 2026 until September 30, 2026.
What is a MGF Junior Golf Development Grant?
DEFINED AS:
Financial support for families to help their children learn to compete, develop skills, enhance core values and build lasting relationships through the game of golf
ELIGIBILITY:
- Must have completed the junior year of high school.
- Must enroll at a college or university of his/her choice. Community colleges & Trade schools are eligible.
- Must have outstanding personal character, sportsmanship, and leadership qualities.
- Must have participated in a JGANC, JTNC, First Tee – Greater Sacramento member or any high school golf team for at least one event, program or membership year or worked at a golf facility.
- Your permanent Greater Sacramento home or school address must be within the boundaries listed below:
- To the north: Grass Valley, Marysville, Yuba City
- To the east: Colfax, Pollock Pines, Pioneer
- To the south: Jackson, Galt
- To the west: Fairfield, Woodland, Knights Landing
GRANT FUNDING:
Each award will be based upon individual needs. Eligible families will be reimbursed, to the extent of the Grant dollars awarded, and per the agreed-upon golf plan** for the following expenses:
- Tournament registration fees
- Transportation to and from tournaments deemed as travel tournaments for junior golfer only
(Travel tournament = minimum of 90 minute drive time) - Lodging and meal costs for junior golfer only in travel tournaments
- Golf equipment
- Golf lessons
- And other expenses as dictated by USGA rules
*MGF Grants will only reimburse expenses that are eligible under USGA and NCAA rules. Grantee and or Parents are responsible for maintaining eligibility.

- USGA Junior events
- AJGA Junior Tour
- Other agreed-upon tournaments

Application . - Eligible applicants will be scheduled for interviews
- After the
interview , all applicants will be notified as to the final determination of the Grant

RULES FOR APPLICATION:
- Complete application and attach a recent photo to the application (MUST BE TYPED & 1 SIDE ONLY).
- Application must be accompanied with 2 letters from the principal, golf coach, teacher, or counselor.
- A transcript of applicant’s grades must be included.
- Answer 5 questions located on scholarship application.

APPLICATION:
Selection Committee and Process:
The Morton Golf Foundation scholarship committee will make the selection of those members deemed most worthy of the scholarships.
Due to National College Athletic Association rules, scholarship winners will not receive cash directly. Scholarship recipients are required to submit the name, address and contact person of their college or university so that the Morton Golf Foundation can send the funds to be held at the college in the name of the winner for future use.
MGF is stating that the Grants are only used for the appropriate purpose of reimbursement of expenses.
