Local Charities Win BIG During Capital Cup Charity Tournament

The 8th Annual Capital Cup Charity Tournament was held on September 15, 16 & 17, 2023 with the new title sponsor of L5 Investments.

This year’s 32 participating golfers raised $1,847,396.00!

In the past, this is the largest charity event in Sacramento. This event annually raises more charity dollars than the May Big Day of Giving.

Each participant pays a $2,500.00 fee to participate in the fundraiser. This fee covers all event administration and operations costs allowing 100% of raised dollars to go directly to each player’s charity.

I am sure it’s fun for the 32 players to play 3 competitive rounds of golf in 3 days but the real fun is watching each charity receive their WINNING check!

From the Board of Directors at Morton Golf Foundation we would like to thank everyone who donated, participated & supported us on our successful journey.

See everyone next year!

Villara Capital Cup Fundraiser

The Villara Capital Cup Fundraiser was held on October 7, 8 & 9, 2022.

For the 3rd year in a row Tom Morton, President of Morton Golf Foundation agreed to represent Morton Golf Foundation by playing & fundraising in the 8th Annual Villara Capital Cup fundraiser.

This event had a total of 32 business leaders playing in a Ryder Cup format with Tom Morton being the Captain for the Blue Team, River City Ramblers & Shannon Deary-Bell Captain of the Red Team, Sactown Stars over a three-day period.

The matches were played:

Friday, October 7th at Winchester CC
Saturday, October 8th at Del Paso CC
Sunday, October 9th at Granite Bay GC

The 2 teams had 16 golfers per team.   Each golfer enters the event with a $2,500.00 entry fee as they choose their charity of choice & agree to raise money where 100% of all donations go directly back to the charities!

At the Sunday match, each player has the opportunity to bring a caddie. Tom Morton asked his 10 year old son, Ellis to step in and do the job.  Ellis was qualified to handle this position after this year winning his age division in the First tee – Greater Sacramento “Little Linkers”.

This year, Morton Golf Foundation had the advantage to have 2 golfers playing for Morton Golf Foundation as they continue to spread the awareness of Morton Golf Foundation even further.

Tom Morton raised $65,856.33 and Kirk Kimmelshue raised $16,782.41 to round our total raised for this year’s event to $83,000.00!

Thanks to all of our donors who continue to support Morton Golf Foundation and the mission of giving back to our local youth, disabled and underserved as we continue to grow.

We are already in the planning stages for next year knowing this is an event not to miss!

Tom Morton plays in the 2021 Villara Capital Cup for the Morton Golf Foundation

We are so lucky to have Tom Morton, President of Morton Golf Foundation commit for the second year in a row to play in the 2021 Villara Capital Cup this September 24 – 26, 2021.

This is a 3-day golf tournament as Tom joins 32 other fellow Sacramento business leaders to raise funds for local charities and non-profits. Tom has selected Morton Golf Foundation as his charity of choice and we are off and running raising funds to give back to local youth, disabled and underserved.

Last year Morton Golf Foundation raised $40,000.00 through the Villara Capital Cup. Tom’s goal this year is to exceed $50,000.00. Last year, our claim to fame was when Morton Golf Foundation won the category of having the most individual donors of any other foundation participating in the event! Let’s continue to make this our annual WIN.

All donations go directly to the Morton Golf Foundation and help Tom win the grand prize on the foundation’s behalf. With every $5,000.00 that Morton Golf Foundation raises in advance, Tom earns a “mulligan” which can only help Tom more toward winning a share of the $100,000.00 grand prize.

Please consider contributing (of any comfortable amount) through the Villara Capital Cup page at:

The last date and time to donate to this event will be on Saturday, September 25th at 5:00 p.m.

Feel free to pass this information on to any and all of your friends. Every day something great happens at Morton Golf Foundation. Each day we create success stories by helping our juniors, disabled and underserved grow.

Join us in making this be our most successful Villara Capital Cup ever. Competition is high and Tom is up for the challenge.

5th Annual Sacramento Golf Marathon

The 5th Annual Sacramento Golf Marathon “100 Holes of Golf” was held on Monday, November 5th, 2019

2018 Sacramento Golf Marathon Participants

This year we had four star athletes show up at 6:00 a.m. ready and raring to go to play their “100 Holes of Golf” for charity. As Tom Morton, Mike Woods, Barbara Allario and Rob Siebers teed off at the break of dawn to play for the juniors, we had Steve Stoll and Jose Mercado as the “Wingmen” to guide them through the course.

For the past few months this group has asked their friends, families and neighbors to join in and support them as all proceeds go back to our local youth. These donations help support the families of junior golfers to improve skills, build competitive spirit, enhance core values and help build long lasting relationships.

This past year Morton Golf Foundation has helped 19 junior golfers as they earned junior grants.

These grants support a variety of efforts including upgrading equipment for progressing juniors, clothing allowances building self-esteem, tournament fees, including registration, hotel and travel fees, lessons and strength training. Grants are customized to maximize the value of the individual junior golfer.

In addition to building golf proficiency and learning life lessons through the game of golf, many of our juniors have dreams to use their golf talents to earn college scholarships.

The Morton Golf Foundation Junior Golf Development Grant is funded solely by the Sacramento Golf Marathon. Our planning stages are already gearing up for fall 2019. Continue to watch the website for updates and details.

Thanks to everyone for their continued support!
