PGA HOPE Receives Adaptive Cart from Morton Golf Foundation

Last year, Suzy Schneider, Program Manager for PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) was asked to speak at a Morton Golf Foundation Board meeting regarding their programs and helping Veterans through the game of golf.

When Suzy ended up telling us all the wonderful things that PGA HOPE does one of our board members asked, “What does PGA HOPE need?”.  Suzy answered back, “An adaptive cart to continue to help our wounded Veterans play with everyone else”.

When Suzy left the meeting our board of directors voted to buy PGA HOPE an adaptive cart so they could continue their mission.

Just recently a VertaCat cart was delivered to Swenson Park Golf Course in Stockton because PGA HOPE knows that would be the best location to reach as many wounded veterans as possible.

The founder and creator of the VertaCat adaptive cart is Anthony Netto.  He was a huge part in making this happen.  He is not only the designer of this cart but also spends his time growing the non-profit “Stand Up and Play” Foundation. Their mission is to give wheelchair users and those with mobility challenges the chance to stand up again, to experience the empowerment of looking someone in the eye, and to experience the freedom to play sports.   It’s simple. Their goal is to give as many people as possible the gift of standing up.

Morton Golf Foundation continued to be proud of these relationships as we all grow golfers one player at a time.

“The Putting Party” Annual Fundraising Event for Morton Golf Foundation

The Putting Party at Haggin Oaks held on May 15 was a fun and fabulous fundraising event!

The putting course was created, the putting teams arrived and everyone was ready to party.

This annual fundraising event was created to educate our local businesses on what the Morton Golf Foundation is all about.

Each corporation pays $1,000.00 to participate as they bring their 5-person putting team.  It’s a scramble format & the idea is each team has 5 chances to putt the ball in the hole with the least amount of strokes.

This year’s winners were from Boutin Jones Inc who were also the drink sponsor for the evening.

Everyone was putting, laughing and having a great time on a beautiful warm Sacramento evening.

The proceeds from this year’s fundraiser went toward PGA HOPE which is a nonprofit that stands for Helping Our Patriots Everywhere.

The crowd of 100 people was silent as their representatives told their stories on how PGA HOPE makes a difference in their lives.

The 6th Annual Putting Party

Morton Golf Foundation congratulates the 2017 Putting Party winners, TEAM Willie Baroo

What a memorable night for the 6th Annual Morton Golf Foundation Putting Party. On September 20, 2017 on the MacKenzie Putting Green at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex, Sacramento Kings’ Superstar Doug Christie talked about his love affair with the great game of golf and offered his predictions for the 2018 Kings season. Leah Woods started the event with the singing of the National Anthem, and then it was time to putt. Everyone attending felt so lucky to have both Doug and Leah on hand to enhance the event.

22 TEAMS enjoyed a shotgun start on the putting course, playing a 5-person scramble format. Some of the holes produced many aces, and others produced only a few. At the end of the evening, two teams shared the lead with a wonderful score of 7 under par.

Congratulations to the 2017 Champions – William Land Golf Course putting under the name TEAM Willie Baroo.

The Morton Golf Foundation raises money through “The Putting Party” to support the Veterans’ Golf Program, Special Olympics of Northern California and the California Eagles Program. We were honored to have Chris Paulsen speak about his experience with golf and the PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) program following his military service. I think everyone in the room was touched by Chris and his story. What a wonderful reminder of the important role that golf plays in many of our lives!

Hope to see you next year for the 7th Annual Putting Party in September, 2018.
